November UPDATE!!!

Yes, it has been a while since our last blog entry. Some things have happened and it has been in our favor and some things have happened that have been to our disadvantage. However, anything that is worth its weight in gold is not easy to come by. Saving human lives to us is always worth whatever obstacles that come our way!

No need to bore you with the negative that has passed. Just know that the tour will still happen in 2011! Again, the reason the tour was postponed in 2010 was simple. We want it bigger! We want more awareness! We need YOUR HELP! Plus, we wanted to focus on the production and development of the “Homeless” reality television show to help support the tour. We are happy and please to announce that the shows pilot episode has been commissioned and we begin principle photography on December 17-19, 2010 in Kalamazoo, MI. This production will be headed up by JWS Productions and DNA Entertainment Grp Inc. We will release further show details in a later blog. Just know that The Homeless Comedy Tour is alive and well!! We ask that you be patient and keep the struggle and hopes alive. We are here to stay and to bring about real change in America when it comes to taking care of America's dirty little secret.

We ask that you link up to our Facebook page and twitter accounts to stay current with the HTC, its events and tasks that we need to complete to get to the final destination.

Again, thank you for your continued support a dedication!

My New Year Resolution to End Homelessness Tell All Update. The “HCT” (Short form un-edited)

“HELP!”…

…is what I want to scream aloud from the top of the highest building in the land. “America, wake the Fuck up!” is what would follow. But I can’t because it is politically incorrect. People might not want to associate themselves with me because of what the perception of me doing that would be. To me that perception is a person expressing a real feeling. Not knowing that I am just a little frustrated and would like a safe and harmless release and my weapon of choice would be to just simply exhale out loud… really loud. Isn’t that what movies are based on? A reflection of society and our thoughts.

This is me speaking to you. Not “Amaru” the comic entertainer. Not the Homeless Comedy Tour founder. This is me, Omar D. Lewis, Sr. I am going to speak freely about what has been going on with this tour and myself. I don’t care who likes it. I don’t care if it is politically incorrect or correct! I don’t care! I care about speaking the truth as I have seen it unfold since January 1, 2010.

Before I begin, I would like to address my homelessness. Yes, I was homeless and in a homeless shelter for a very short time. I acknowledge that and take nothing from anyone who has been for years or even decades. However, my short term experience was enough for me to see a problem first hand and want to do something about it… now! I don’t need anyone’s sympathy, empathy or charity! I don’t need big ballers, celebrities nor a big name behind my efforts to bring forth change in my world! If they want to join the cause and help their fellow man then that is fine with me. I started this on my own and will die trying to accomplish it on my own if that is what it takes!

Someone a month ago addressed and pointed out the fact that I had not been homeless for a long time as if that is not enough cause for me to take action. I don’t have to kill someone to realize that it hurts people and that it is something that needs to be addressed as well. With that said…

I have been asked on many occasions in the last two months of the goings on with the Homeless Comedy tour. Due to my promise of transparency here it is!

To date, I myself technically, still homeless. I have an address in California but no real permanent domicile since I left the homeless shelter myself. My kids live here in Michigan and I travel doing stand up not making that much money as true road comics know. So all of my money goes to travel and living in hotels and doing what I can for my baby’s while trying to change the world on my dime. I spend most of my time here in MI (Michigan) to be with my children and without a real place to call home in MI it is expensive to survive. I have been on my own since the age of 12 in and out of foster homes.

When I started this tour the idea was real to me and still is! I wasn’t blind or naive to the fact that their will be obstacles and people or entities that would come along and try to thwart our efforts. As a great comic once said, “Ain’t no money in the cure!” Chris Rock

In the beginning it was smooth sailing with me spreading the message via the stage, Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites. People have stepped up to the plate and volunteered and donated which is awesome!

The idea for the tour is simple. I travel 50 states in 50 days doing 50 shows collecting $1.00 US dollar from every American each year for the next 10 years to raise over 3 Billion plus dollars to END HOMELESSNESS… for real. It’s simple. Take SOME of that money, put together a consortium of the greatest minds in the country to come up with a business plan and a dollar amount that we could implement, to systematically end homelessness as we know it. PERIOD!! Simple right? If we posted on Craigs list right now, ”WANTED! THE CURE FOR CANCER! REWARD $1,000,000,000.00” Cancer would be cured by Monday morning! You and I know it! So why can’t we raise that money and create a think tank with their sole purpose being to end homelessness? It is only impossible because WE refuse to do it!!

So, I have this New Years resolution and I announce it on Twitter and Facebook. I get responses and supporters and a website donated by Atom Groom and associates only to run into an entity that rips us off on our first charity event. Funds were to be used to give our endeavors a kick start financially. It would have potentially helped us finance and pay for tour necessities from advertisement using a PR person and for whatever else was needed to sustain this venture and make the tour come to fruition.

A young lady by the name of, Yvette Araujo, of “Trinty Films” contacted me through Twitter wanting to champion our cause. Her handle is @Sodomthemovie on Twitter. Trinity Films is based in Austin, TX. Website is http://www.modos.tv (Evidence of our correspondence can be provided upon request)
She approached me about helping out the cause and it took us a second to finally talk and connect via phone because of our schedules and obligations. We finally spoke and to make an already long story short, she invited us to her film release function in Westlake, CA at a very prestigious venue. She invited me to perform and it was to serve as a fund raiser for The Homeless Comedy Tour and Northeast Denver Women's Center

This all took place June 10, 2010 as planned BUT…

…it has been 60 days and no money! Trinity Films is what they go by.

What went into the prep for this event and came out of pocket. T-shirts, mugs, hats, pads etc. Some travel expenses, tux’s, car rental etc. This was something we took serious and we wanted to make a great impression and represent the tour in an upstanding manner. We went all out! This was to be our debut to the world! This was it! This is what we needed to give the tour the shot in the arm it needed!

The weekend goes by and we get an email that says this from her Executive Assistant:

Lauren Thomas
to me, Yvette

show details Jun 14

Amaru,

Thank you for attending the evening's event on June 10th. We appreciate the participation of you and your partner, Robert. All invoices will be reconciled on a net 30 basis. Please submit receipts via email.

Proceeds for the night's event were not as we hoped but the awareness meant everything.

Trinity Films will make a modest donation to both charities within the next 60 days after we have reconciled all invoices pertaining to the event.

We have already started the planning for next year's benefit and look forward to working with you and your plight against homelessness between now and then.

Best Regards,

Lau'ren Thomas

Says here, in that sneaky lingo, after they pay their bills out of the money donated then we get what was raised. WTF!!!

Now it is more than 60 days later and no reimbursement or donation of any kind. In fact, we haven’t heard anything from them since June 23, 2010 We have spent time and money on this sham to see no return what so ever! We have suffered hardships because of the actions of this group. We are asking for nothing from this anymore. We want to kill them with success. No we are not going to sue or go after them. Karma is a bitch and she is in town! We are just wanting you to be aware of what has taken place. This has slowed us down a bit but didn’t stop us.

After the event I stayed in California awaiting the check from them while sleeping in my car. Yes, I slept in my car for 22 days because my partner abandoned the project and me after what took place at the June 10, 2010 function. So I was left to fend for myself out in California. With the help of some friends I was eventually able to stay at various Hostels in California until my next gig.
In the mean time, I reached out to an old producer friend in TX and told him about the tour and documentary we were planning to execute during the tour and he came up with a better way of doing the documentary which involved producing a television show in regards to our efforts. So we moved forward on the idea and he began pitching it to production company’s he was in line with and networks and caught interest immediately. This was a new light shinning at the end of the tunnel! Something I could hold onto to that would make this still make sense to me. Something to grasp a hold to while still sleeping in my car. Something to have made the trip out to California worth while because at that point it was a bust because of the “charity” event that exhausted all of our funds.

In the excitement, I made another call to another business associate and friend in AZ because I had gotten a ticket while sleeping in my car. I could only laugh at it at the time. I called him because he said in an earlier talk that he was going to be in California so I wanted to meet up with him. I called and got the voice mail and shared the comical event on his voice mail plus the tour. I wanted to get his advice on how to handle the charity event situation. He called me back later that night and was like, “we can’t have you sleeping in your car. Makes for a good story and makes your cause even more real but we can‘t have that.” along with a compliment about my talents. We became friends 10 years ago via my screen writing works. He made some calls in regards to the tour and what I was doing. He called a gentleman who is very influential in the business of entertainment and whom I had to pitch our show to several times. He loved it and then the show was instantly elevated to another level as far as making it happen for real. This is great for the tour, right? After all that is said and done, we still have no money from Trinity Films and we are still awaiting for the paperwork which was promised by the production entity in regards to the show. To sum it all up… talk has been cheap and expensive for this tour and it hasn’t even started yet!

I am tired of the talk! I am tired of people coming along and bragging about what they can do and don’t do it! I am tired of people signing on thinking they are going to make a quick buck because yes, it is a great idea and will be successful but I’m not in it for that! I’m in it to end homelessness period! If this was an event to help another country, or some starving kids in Asia, we're all over that! I can count on one hand how many people are still around that talked a great game in the beginning.

We have done everything we have said we were going to do! Everything we have done has come up short because people just simply drop the ball. That is why contracts are important! That is why people go through agencies! That is why people are tired of giving! We postponed the tour because valid points were made in regards to the success of the tour. We want the tour to be as successful as possible. As it was put to me, “We don’t want it to look like a bootleg tour!” I agree!

Here it is, 4 weeks later, no contracts from the lawyer, no contact from the production company and no money. Now, no tour… til next year. I am the most patient person in the world! I didn’t always used to be but I learned patience and good things have come from it. Being patient is one thing but waiting a month for something so pressing is just disrespectful. A phone call or an email would have been just fine. We have to move on. The homeless have waited long enough.

I except the role I played and decisions made in regards to the tour and its development. I have been in this business long enough to know I am not the smartest guy in the world but I tend to surround my self with smarter people to get the job done just like the president. I know when a production is real or if it is just talk. Still, we can be had. Because just like I think I know the game there are people out there who know it better and it constantly changes. That is why I can’t do this by myself. I need resources and people who can weed out the bs. I need people who can make a phone call. I need people who can simply write a big check so that we wouldn’t need anyone’s approval to get the ball rolling full speed ahead. I need people who can make that decision that gets us through the door. I need people with people skills and a go get it attitude! I need people who want for their fellow man what they want for themselves! I need people who REALLY CARE! Not just for a photo opp. When you rip us off you rip off the homeless. Not to mention it is a ripple effect. Now I gotta steal from Bob to pay Tom and Tom wants his flippin money!! When you make promises and hold up progress due to ill intentions then you are doing it to the homeless because that is who this will benefit!

It hasn’t been all bad. I want to acknowledge Atom Groom, Joseph Gonzalez, Kevin Bruinsma, John Wayne Stevenson III, Pat Godwin and Rubin Jones for their time and contributions. For sticking in there with me through all of these difficult times. For believing in the possibilities and PUTTING THEIR MONEY WHERE THEIR MOUTH IS!!! They are still with me!

The postponement of the tour is good. One reason is because it gives me a chance to get back on my feet. In retrospect, that is what I should have done first but NYE was here and I needed a resolution and had to act on it from day one. If I can’t help myself how can I effectively help others? Plus, it gives us time to regroup and do this thing right! If this was easy it would have been done a long time ago.

While dealing with all of this, I am going through a divorce which enviably contributed to my homelessness. Plus operating a tour which will change our world while trying to stay employed as a working under rated comic. At the same time, dealing with the separation of family which is what my kids have known most of their lives and trying to maintain an active relationship with them while explaining to them that everything is going to be alright with a straight face is very difficult. I hear all the time from my eleven year old, “Daddy, when can we come live with you?” Very heart wrenching to an active father especially when I can‘t give her an honest answer. The older ones know what I am attempting to do but they also know that Dad doesn’t have a place to call home yet. They have all seen me go for my dreams and have never seen me give up on anything that I am passionate about and I am not about to start now. I tell them all the time that they can do anything they put their mind to and if Daddy doesn’t do it then I am no more then a liar.

Well, there it is in a nutshell. Much more to this but that is the meat of the situation. I am an open book and have always been. I just want to be a good person and give back and not just talk about it. I am a man of action and want to meet like minded people who are passionate and feel the same way. Yes, some folks out there could care less about the homeless. I have heard it said with my own ears. They feel that if it doesn’t affect them then it is not their problem. How they are so wrong about that. Homelessness is not always because of drugs and alcohol! Do the research!

According to the McKinney act of 1992, a person is considered homeless when they “lack a fixed, regular, and adequate night-time residence and their primary night time residency is a shelter or institution that houses temporary residences.” The National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty estimate that there are 3.5 million people who experience homelessness. Of that population one in 50 or about 1.5 million are children. (NCFH 2009) Statistically, homelessness can be caused by unemployment, poverty, lack of affordable housing, substances abuse or mental illness. With such a massive problem, how can it be managed? Where is the real solutions to this problem?

The answer is, Americans caring for one another instead of material positions and monetary gain. The answer is, The Homeless Comedy Tour! 50 Clubs 50 States in 50 Days! $1.00 US dollar from each American for the next 10 years then we will have the money to find that cure!!

IT’S ONLY IMPOSSIBLE UNTIL WE DO IT!!

Good news!!

Okay, here we go!

I know, every one has been waiting patiently for some news and updates on the tour. So have we! It is finally here!

Are you READY?

THE TOUR IS BEING POSTPONED! Why? It is simple. We are not ready! We didn't have the financial backing and the machine needed to move it forward effectively. We have one shot at this very sensitive movement! It can't look like some bootleg tour. This tour started from the mind and pockets of one man and a few donations here and there. This movement has become bigger then imagined!

NOW, THE GOOD NEWS IS... we now have the backing needed to move this project forward full speed ahead! We now have the machine needed to make this tour a success! As of 7/14/10 we have a team of esteemed professional who have been dubbed, "The Deal Makers", who have come aboard to make this tour a success. This includes a development deal for something even bigger then the tour which will be revealed a little later on in the weeks to come. We are working out the details now and will keep everyone informed.

The tour WILL HAPPEN! Just on a larger scale! It will be moved to a future date to be determined.

It has been a hard road! We have done a lot to prepare for this and want it to be a life changing experience for everyone involved. We want to end homelessness and in order to do that we have to have all of our ducks in order and everything in place logistically and financially.

If you would like more info, as always, send an email to info@thehomelesscomedytour.org and someone will respond to your questions as soon as possible!

We want to extend a gratitude to those who stuck in their with us and continue to! People have come and gone throughout this endeavor. For those who hung in there, because of that dedication we will see this dream become a reality on a massive scale! Thank you!

STAY TUNED!

I can't believe what happened this morning!

(Please excuse grammar and punctuation. Still calming down from the experience)

I just experienced the most racist thing in my life there today! I stayed there last week twice. I am from MI and have put in over 500k miles in travel over the last ten years. I have stayed in thousands of hotels and have NEVER experienced what I experienced this morning July 2, 2010 Frank Martini he said his name was. One day after praising the experience and the people there.

First I walk in as I did before, nothing different then the last time. I am happy these days because something major is about to happen for the tour and my career! I thought nothing could tamper with that till this morning.
I wanted to get a dorm like before and two girls that I didn't see the first two times before were at the front desk asked me my age, I told them and they said, "No. You are too old! You have to rent a single" which is substantially more then the dorm. I then explained to her that I was here last weekend with no prob. In fact, the guy that was already there looked like he lived there and was at least 50 years old!! "Well, we made a mistake" she says. He's still in the dorm!! I ask for a manager. This immigrant comes out and looks at me and says, "No. You don't look like a traveler. You can't stay here!" What?!!!!!!!! We only rent to travelers and back packers and passport holders." I am a traveler! I got back packs in my car that has a MI plate on it! I rented from you twice last week!" He says, "Well, we made a mistake!" "Twice", I said. "Sometimes we make mistake 2 and 3 times", he says. He is saying this while my MI drivers license is in hand. I wanted to say, you don't look like an American but I didn't. I asked for his card and he says he doesn't have one. Then just to be an s.o.b., he ask for mine thinking that I didn't have one. I whipped one out and handed it to him then he says, "I don't need a card! Call your lawyer!" What?!! At that moment I had to leave or their would have been an international incident so to speak. I was shaking in fury that a man who I am sure experienced his own racism coming to this country would blatantly racially profile me. Their were baby's in that s.o.b.!! I was shaking so bad but again, I have too much going on right now to jeopardize my freedom and status. I can't jeopardize what we have put into this tour. I had to keep the "hood" buried in me at bay.

MR MARTINI, if that is your name, I WILL BE BACK WITH A CAMERA CREW! I'ma make you famous for the wrong reasons! Don't bring to this country what we already have a problem with!!!!!!! So disgusted at what I thought was the best little hole in the wall ever!!!!!!

Wake up America!!!!

We went to Venice Beach today and frankly I am disgusted at what I experienced. We had our homeless comedy shirts on and passing out info on the tour. Offering t's only when asked about them. Basically we were handing out business cards and giving out info. FREE INFO! It does not cost anything to care people!!

I even asked a guy, "Did you give to Haiti?" He said, "Yes" I said, "Do you want to help your fellow American?" He said,"No". So sad.

I wished I would have recorded it! It would have stunned you to see that we really don't give a rats ass about each other!

We better wake up America! We had better wake up!

This tour is designed to empower Americans as our lovely First Lady said, “Yes, you can change the world!”

Cheryl A. Horvath BA CFLE CASA for Kids, Child Advocate
March 13, 2010

Dear Amaru
“THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK-YOU! For Last night at Comedy Connections in Lansing, MI! Thanks to Amaru! Can’t wait for THE HOMELESS COMEDY TOUR! And Thanks for being part of Comedy for a Cause sponsoring CASA for Kids of Barry Eaton County, advocates for abused and neglected children. Amaru you put on a great show with side splitting “real life” testimonies. “
THANKS SO MUCH!

Tami Wright – Show patron from Greensboro, NC - April 2010

“F*U*N*N*Y! You were awesome! It was a pleasure watching you do your thing. Looking forward to you coming back for your Homeless Comedy Tour!”

The tour will feature various comedians throughout the country who bring down the house. A few of the featured comics will be Pat Godwin, Helen Maalik, Kate Brindle, Tyron Foston, The “Fryman” and MANY MORE! Each comedy show will be the normal exciting 90 minutes in length. The show will consist of an MC, Feature and the Headliner being HCT’s own, Amaru. The show will also have an occasional musical guest set or two.

This idea was the brain child of Amaru. It was actually his New Year resolution to “End Homelessness”. Once homeless himself, Amaru knows what it feels like to be in need, out in the cold and not having a place to call home. Although he, himself, is now a successful comedian, that means nothing to a bad economy. A bad economy knows no class! Most Americans are a paycheck away from being out on the street. While getting back on his feet, Amaru was without a lot of things we take for granted and found out that the most giving people on the planet are the homeless. People who had nothing themselves shared with Amaru. The kindness showed towards him by those who couldn’t afford a tooth brush was at times overwhelming for him. Amaru felt he could do more. He felt like life doesn’t have to be this way in a country where it is happily boasted as being so great. How could this be possible in the home of the brave and land of the free? How could this still be possible in the 21st Century?

The HCT will spearhead an effort to build a facility(s) that houses the homeless nationwide with the specific and mandatory task of caring for them with respect and dignity, while preparing them for re-entry into society, as productive and successful US citizens. It’s done for criminals, with a new prison going up every other month, so why not for people who just need a reset button in life? The end game is to “END HOMELESSNESS”! PERIOD! This tour is being fueled and powered by Twitter and Facebook users all over the country! Social media is here to stay and it will help change the world as we know it!

The inspiration we need to keep going!

The Homeless Comedy Tour works and it hasn't even begun yet!!! I was at the mall recently in MI replacing the my g1... long over due. Po thang. Anyway, I turned away from the counter for a second and recognized someone from the homeless shelter that I stayed in. HE LOOKED FANTABULOUS!! I almost didn't recognize him. He w...as clean and sober and just looked down right impressive. I had to approach. He saw me and a big grin came over him. He reached out to shake my hand and said, "I wanted to thank you bruh! Even though you were in there with us strugglin', you kept it movin' and actually inspired a few of us, not just me to get up and do what we needed to do to make our situation ...better." I almost cried. The best thing about it... it cost me nothing! It gave me the boost in moral that I needed personally to know that I am on the right track! For that I am grateful to him!! Congrats bruh! Now keep it movin'!

Guess who's coming to dinner?

Well folks, we met and it is a match! No, not a new girlfriend!

On Friday morning, (Yesterday) I met with two beautiful, distinguished and sophisticated women from Detroit for breakfast by the name of, Terri Covington and her beautiful mother, Willia Wright. Terri Covington is the “Director of Development” at Detroit Central City Community Mental Health in Detroit. They have graciously decided to partner up with The Homeless Comedy Tour to help provide whatever needed within their power to make this tour successful!
They have also committed to setting up our October 1, 2010 send off show in Pontiac, MI which promises to be huge!! They have the venue in mind which we will reveal at a later date when confirmed.

We came together through one of her employees who attended Chaplins Comedy Club where @therealamaru was Headlining in Clinton Township, MI a week back. She enjoyed the show and was very interested in the tour after it was mentioned on stage by @therealamaru. She followed up with @therealamaru after the show for further information. She went to work that Monday and passed the info to her boss, Terri Covington and the rest as they say…

As mentioned earlier, we met for breakfast to discuss what role her organization could play to make this tour as successful as possible. Out of this meeting came a theme song for the tour called, “HOMELESS”, sang by Ronnie McNeir from the hit recording group and legends, “The Four Tops”. We also received a new T-shirt and a beautiful poem written by Kenny Corr to apply to our fund raising efforts.
Once the details are worked out we will put the song on this site and our upcoming website which will be up and running by Monday morning. Check back here or Facebook on Monday for the site name.

We have much more news to reveal. We just want to hammer out some details before we totally spill the beans on the master plan. Just know that the tour is moving full speed ahead! We have 6 states so far locked in for venues! We have two shows in one night in the state of Virginia! They are super excited! Our goal by the end of the month is to have 25 confirmed venues.

Stay tuned and stay positive! Thank you Terri Covington, Detroit Central City Community Mental Health, and family for your helping hand in this history making event!

Remember, “It’s only impossible until you do it!”

A BIG thank you!!

I want to thank all of the fans who are connected through Twitter as well! OMG!! People are stepping up to the plate and making things happen!

We are selling Cd's for the upstart of this thing. Someone has started on a t-shirt design for the same purpose and to raise awareness. Some of us saw it today. Three different Blogger's have posted and done story's on the tour. Pat Godwin volunteered his services to the tour.

We have a 501(3)c status with 10 plus years under it's belt. Saved us a lot of paperwork and waiting. It's just too good to be true! The thing is, it will only grow and get bigger and the next thing you know, homelessness is a thing of the past!

I've sent out 100's of emails and I am pleased to say the clubs and Booker's have been responding with open arms. One agency in the East Coast offered all of their clubs up for the tour! That is a wonderful thing! It shows me that Americans still have a back bone to do what needs to be done to make it better for their fellow man. We saw that with the unfortunate and very devastating Haiti disaster.

We are setting up shows now. Working on the details. They will be posted soon!

Again, thank you lady's and Gents for all of your hard work and support! It's not going to be an easy task but if we stay focused on the goal, we cant lose.

Please, everyone who has not done it already, go to http://www.homelesscomedy.blogspot.com and follow the Blog for update purposes on the tour, dates, progress, meetings, needs etc.
If at ANYTIME you have a suggestion, chime on in. And speak up, so we can hear ya!!

UPDATE on what we need and have to offer to get it...

Hello supporting cast of the Homeless Comedy Tour of 2010!!

We wanted to speak about what the 50 Clubs 50 States, in 50 Days Comedy Tour for the Homeless needs to get off the ground.

It’s very simple for the beginning stage. Look at this as pre-production for a film. Pre-production are all the things that need to be done before the actual production, the actual tour i.e. the production, starts October 1, 2010.
We have been thinking of ways to finance this endeavor without strapping us financially when that financial hurdle was in place to begin with. So while brainstorming on or about ways to come up with capital to fund this thing we thought about and asked ourselves “What resources do we already have”. Sometimes in life we worry so much about what we don’t have and lose site of what we do have. What we do have is music and t-shirts. @THEREALAMARU is willing to donate all proceeds to @HOMELESSCOMEDY towards this effort. (www.cdbaby.com/cd/mistawoosaa) This is courtesy of S.O.T.A. Records LLC. Not only does is he a stand up but he is also music publisher and producer/artist MISTA WOOSAA. (SESAC affiliate)

For the t-shirts they will be designed and printed once we get the funds to do so. If you have any t-shirt design ideas please feel free to chime in. Whatever this shirt says it will go down in history. Right now the only shirt we have available to get the ball rolling on financing is another @THEREALAMARU product which is located at (http://www.amaru.spreadshirt.com) Again, after Spreadshirt takes their tremendous cut all proceeds will be donated to the tour.

If you have anything you want to sell and add to this somewhat garage sale on Twitter then let us know and we will pump it for you for that purpose.

We are not asking for a handout nor do we want charity. We want to end homelessness without gouging the Nation. The only time we want money from this country is when the tour begins October 1, 2010. Even then, all we want is $1.00 US from each American. No, we are not Haiti but I think our homeless deserve a little bailing out too! A permanent bailout! I gave to Haiti and also performed at a charity benefit in their interest and am proud I did. However, I will be so disappointed in the American people if we leave our own in peril and suffering. In less then a week 200 million was raised to help in Haiti. I feel in 50 days of a tour we should be able to raise an END TO HOMELESSNESS! PERIOD! We have no excuse!

We still need help in a few areas such as promotion, publicity, a sponsorship detail and much more. Those experienced in event planning and are involved with Twitter make your presence known. Like Uncle Sam, WE WANT YOU!!

This will be the best Christmas present ever!!!

Stay tuned for more updates as they come in.

Thank you in advance for caring!

WHEN YOU BUY THIS ALBUM ALL PROCEEDS HAVE BEEN DONATED TO THE TOUR EFFORTS. SO THAT WE MAY BE ABLE TO BUY T-SHIRTS, PUT DOWN DEPOSITS FOR VENUES WHEN THEIR IS A NEED OR WHATEVER ELSE FINANCIAL THAT COMES UP DURING THIS PRE-PRODUCTION. WE ARE TRYING TO BE SELF CONTAINED BY COMING UP WITH WAYS TO FUND OURSELVES JUST AS WE ARE GOING TO END HOMELESSNESS OURSELVES!! THANK YOU AND LET'S CONTINUE THE FIGHT!! TOGETHER!! AND WIN!! TOGETHER!!

UPDATE!!

Don't worry folks! We haven't forgotten about ya! Been working hard on this tour and getting people to join in the fight. Had and interview today and finalizing some paperworl for the tours sponsorship packages. We finished an interview about the tour and a random occurance rant. Both are being proof read before we post so stay tuned! Should be up later this afternoon.

Thank you for your patience and being apart of New Years resolution that will go down in history!

50.50.50 Comedy Tour for the Homeless PRESS RELEASE!!

The Homeless Comedy Tour. Org

THE MISSION:

PROFESSIONAL STAND-UP COMIC AMARU will do what a few others have done before, but like P. Diddy, here’s the remix! A tour bus, a camera man and a comic will travel through 50 states, perform in 50 clubs, in 50 days, to raise over 300 million dollars each year for the homeless, with the end goal being to end homelessness within 10 years. We will start by providing first month’s rent and deposit for EVERYONE that is in need, especially those with children.

We would like to build a facility that houses the homeless nationwide with the specific and mandatory task of caring for them with respect and dignity, while preparing them for re-entry into society, as productive and successful US citizens. We do it for criminals, with a new prison going up every other month, so why not for people who just need a reset button in life?

This idea was the brain child of Amaru. It was actually his New Year resolution to “End Homelessness”. His 2009 New Year’s resolution was not to eat beef and pork. That promise to himself, and God, was a SUCCESS!! So what’s 300 million dollars? Once homeless himself, Amaru knows what it feels like to be in need, out in the cold and not having a place to call home. Although he, himself, is now a successful comedian, that means nothing to a bad economy. A bad economy knows no class! Most Americans are a paycheck away from being out on the street. While getting back on his feet, Amaru was without a lot of things we take for granted and found out that the most giving people on the planet, are the homeless. People who had nothing themselves shared with Amaru. The kindness showed towards him by those who couldn’t afford a tooth brush was at times overwhelming for him. Amaru felt he could do more. He felt like life doesn’t have to be this way in a country we happily boast as being so great. How could this be possible in the home of the brave and land of the free? How could this still be possible in the 21st Century?

Amaru didn’t reinvent the wheel when it comes to comedy. Amaru’s comedic style is simple and broken up into 3 comics you’ll recognize. Amaru brings to the stage the truth and brutal honesty of the late great Richard Pryor. The savvy and quick wit of the late great Robin Harris. Last, but not least, the story telling and endearing characteristics of an Eddie Murphy. A club owner once billed him as, “Picture Bill Cosby raising his kids in the hood.” Hmmm…
He has earned his way working with such notable celebrity acts such as: David Alan Grier, Billy Gardell, Steve White, Pat Godwin, and Oscar winning comedian and actress, Mo’Nique. He has performed in clubs across the country such as The Tampa Improv, Shreveport Funny Bone, The Comedy Zones and Funny Business comedy clubs and more.

The end game is to “END HOMELESSNESS”! PERIOD!
This tour is being fueled and powered by Twitter users all over the country! It is a work in progress. Once folks figure out where this could take American society in a year, they will jump on board without hesitation! Let’s get everyone in every state to donate $1 and end homelessness, starting Oct 1, 2010 in Michigan. Wouldn’t this be the ultimate Christmas present by the year 2020?

See the tour schedule at www.myspace.com/therealamaru and stay up to date by following our blog: Homelesscomedy.blogspot.com Follow us on Twitter: www.twitter.com/homelesscomedy and coming soon http://www.thehomelesscomedytour.org (by the end of May)

There’s no script! No business plan! All we have is an outline and a determination to get AMERICA to do something about our dirty little secret… HOMELESSNESS

WE APPLAUD WHAT WAS DONE FOR HAITI, BUT NOW IT’S TIME TO TAKE CARE OF HOME!!
